Symptoms, Prevention and Treatment of CoronaVirus Disease (COVID-19)

A person could get sick within a period of 1 day to 14 days before experiencing symptoms of coronavirus disease.

The symptoms

The most common symptoms of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are:

  • cough
  • fever
  • fatigue
  • hard to breathe
  • aches and pains
  • sore throat

Most people (or around 80%) will recover from this disease without the need for special treatment.

At present, no vaccine has been found to prevent coronavirus (COVID-19).

But for prevention, you can protect yourself and help prevent the spread of this virus to others if you do the following:

  • Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, with soap and water (or rub your hands with alcohol)
  • Cover your nose and mouth with disposable tissues or bend your elbows when you cough or sneeze
  • Avoid close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with unhealthy people
  • Stay at home and isolate yourself from others at home if you feel unwell
  • Do not smoke and other activities that can weaken lung function
  • Practice keeping a distance by avoiding unnecessary trips
  • Steer clear of crowds or avoid crowds (stay away from large groups of people)

And, don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.

As stated above that special drugs have not been found to prevent or treat coronavirus (COVID-19).

What is most needed when a person experiences symptoms is supportive care to help them breathe.

If someone has mild symptoms, stay home until he recovers.

Symptoms will subside if:

  • rest and sleep
  • keep warm
  • drink lots of fluids
  • a hot bath to help relieve a sore throat and cough

What to do if someone experiences symptoms of corona virus disease?

If someone has a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical care immediately.

Contact in advance and tell the health provider about the last trip taken. Or the latest contact with other people / outsiders.

Corona Virus at a Glance

Corona Virus at a Glance

The world today is stirred by an infectious disease, which has not been cured and has not yet found a way to cure it, even a vaccine to prevent the development of the virus.

Infectious disease is a disease caused by a new type of virus that has just been discovered. The virus is called Corona Virus. Diseases that can arise due to virus infection are Corona Virus Disease 2019 or COVID-19.

Respiratory disease caused by the Corona Virus, the first known case occurred in Wuhan Province, China. At that time, more than 40 people suffered from pneumonia for no apparent reason. That happened in December 2019.

It is now understood that the disease is caused by a new type of coronavirus, known as “Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2” abbreviated as SARS-CoV-2.

(SARS-CoV-2 stands for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2)

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory disease and recover without the need for special treatment. Older people, and those who have basic medical problems such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, and cancer are more likely to experience this serious disease.

How to prevent it?

The best way to prevent and slow down the transmission of the corona virus (COVID-19) is to protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or frequently using rubbing alcohol and not touching your face, nose and mouth.

How is the Corona Virus Spread?

The COVID-19 virus spreads mainly through droplets or coming out of the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Therefore it is important for us or others to close around the nose when we cough or by bending the elbows to avoid bursts from coughing or sneezing.

Until now, no vaccine has been found to cure diseases caused by the corona virus, nor has special treatment methods been found to prevent Corona virus disease (COVID-19). So it’s good for us to maintain the condition of our bodies to stay healthy and fit, and follow the steps set by the government to prevent the development of this disease in society.
